KEGGtranslator v2.0 release, including BioPAX and SBML Level 3 extensions, supporting signaling path 11 Jun '12 02:55

======================================================================
KEGGtranslator Version 2.0.0 (2012-06-04):
Brief summary of user-visible changes
======================================================================

Dear all,

KEGGtranslator, an application to convert KEGG pathways to various other
file types, has just been released as v2.0. Massive changes have been
made to the application and algorithms behind it. Motivated by the
modeling community, the application has now become a versatile tool to
facilitate the creation of initial models from KEGG pathways.
Please see
http://www.cogsys.cs.uni-tuebingen.de/software/KEGGtranslator/downloads/releaseNotes2.0.htm
for a full list of changes.
Here we mention only some major changes in brief.

New additional output file formats:
* BioPAX (L2, L3)
* SIF (Cytoscape)
* SBGN
* SBML Level 3 with extensions: qual, layout, groups

SBML:
* Massively improved to SBML translation: SBO terms and annotations
with database identifiers, many fixes and enhancements, e.g.,
including the correct stoichiometry for all reactions, atom balance
check, etc.
* Support for signaling modeling using the new SBML-qual extension
* Optional SBML Level 3 extensions that allow to store layout
information or groups

Graph:
* Original KEGG pathway picture can be used as background image
* "Metabolic pathways" and more overview pathways can now be visualized

Application:
* Added graph visualization for all output formats, including SBML and
SBGN
* Significant run-time improvement

Application available at
http://www.cogsys.cs.uni-tuebingen.de/software/KEGGtranslator/

We further want to draw your attention to InCroMAP, which uses
KEGGtranslator to perform pathway enrichments and visualizations of
various microarray data types in KEGG pathways.
Please see http://www.cogsys.cs.uni-tuebingen.de/software/InCroMAP/ for
more information

Kind regards
The authors of KEGGtranslator
