Not all models are about elementary reactions :-).
Composite reactions can result in non-integer
stoichiometries.
You may then ask, why not multiply out common denominators
and generate integer stoichiometries? This was a topic of
some discussion at the SBML Forum meeting in Ft. Lauderdale.
The conclusion was that the resulting numbers don't
necessarily mean the same thing, qualitatively.
